[...] Before jumping into that, remember that Undercurrents runs until February 19th and you still have a few chances to see four out of the six shows. And you should. Not sure what Undercurrents is? Check out our feature article. [...]

Yes, Charlotte definitely brings all her acting chops to this show. Absolutely stunning! And I saw a clip of an earlier show and have to agree that Jay seemed a little on-edge, so I guess they worked out a few kinks by the time I went to see it! It's nice to see the young with such a passion for theatre. Can't believe that BOTH the brothers are fifteen though! They look like they have a much wider gap in their ages, but it works perfectly. And yes, Louie was wonderful! I've seen John Collin in productions at OLT before, and this has to be my favourite part I've seen him in yet (which is a pretty high standard!) :)

Thanks for your comment. Saturday is when I was there, as well. I totally agree with most of what you mentioned. What I loved about Bella (and Laurie) was that we got to see that depth to the character in the later scenes and - since I wasn't at all familiar with the play before hand - the surprising contrast made it even more wonderful. The only Arty part that felt off to me was the "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" over-exuberance in the scene when Bella and Grandma were out. It was just annoying more than anything though, which might have been the point.

And, Charlotte. I had no idea what to expect for that first 20 minutes, then when she walked in, I knew she wasn't at all what I'd been thinking and that she was exactly right. Like we mentioned in the review, she'd have been my favourite character if Louie and his gangster-shtick hadn't completely won me over from his first scene with the boys.

I saw the production on Saturday night and it was marvellous. Laury's Bella brought me to hysterics and tears, while the brothers were fantastic. I found that Tom and Ven were perfectly compatible as brothers, though I, knowing the play very well, found Tom capturing Jay perfectly while Ven's Arty seemed slightly forced and unnatural (though to give him credit, the audience was not giving him the proper reactions for his hilarious one-liners). As for Charlotte, when she walked in I had chills. Perfect performance from her end.
